1. Origins of the concept

The concept was born in 2003 in the Library of Santa Lucia Di Portivechju initiated by her responsible Dumenica Martinetti-Gazaniol, who really wanted to be able to see people use the corsican language.

2. The concept

a. Definition : it is a moment that lasts an hour or a little more in which only corsican is spoken on a topic chosen in advance. Let it be very clear, not a word in french! The one who cannot speak listens and takes advantage of the occasion fore improving.

b. Objective : this is about encouraging people to use corsican in a practical way.
It is not a lesson of corsican but it's about rediscovering the language as a link between people. From elders to youngsters, from people from the North (Supranacci) to the ones from the South (Suttanacci), from Corsicans from outside of Corsica to Corsicans in Corsica, from people who have a good mastership of the corsican to the ones who have a hard time with it , etc...

The one who understands corsican but is not used to speak, since there is no choice,is forced to speak corsican if he wants to be heard. So, once the first sted is being made, very often he ends up speaking even outside of this particular context, in the streets or in the shops...
The one who speaks is also concerned. This kind of gathering makes him realize that he has a responsability in transmitting the language. The one who doesn't spak needs the help of the one who does.

3. The "Stondas" of " Parlemu Corsu ! "

Dominique Martinetti Gazaniol , in order to participate concretely to the work of " Parlemu Corsu ! ", constating the success of "Stonda Corsa" in Santa Lucia Di Portivecchju, suggested to apply the idea at the level of whole Corsica and even outside of Corsica with the Corsicans from abroad..

The Collective decided, beginning dicember 2007, to organize a "Stonda" every month, over a different topic and in a different place, in order to touch all the regions of Corsica from now to 2009. It is a manner for the Collective to root it's steps along with the promotion of the practice of corsican everywhere.
